May is for Mental Health Awareness

In case you didn't already know, May is mental health awareness month! This month we shed light on the stigma related to mental health and take initiative in being a part of that change in our society. As mental health professionals, we take this month very seriously. Our team at Orlando Thrive Therapy comes from varying backgrounds, completely different experiences, but with one thing in common and that is the desire to make a difference in people's lives.

We've seen steps in the right direction within the mental health field. Whether it be inclusivity for clients and practitioners, accessibility through telehealth, and innovative new techniques for therapists to utilize.

There is still work to be done.

The stigma behind mental health and pursuing therapy or medication, even help in general is overly stigmatized in our society. Especially in specific areas in relation to cultural background, race, and even gender. We all play a part in changing this, from the client to the therapist. Simple things like word of mouth referrals, google reviews, utilizing social media platforms, writing blogs like this one, are all small-scale ways to incorporate mental health into our daily lives.

How does Orlando Thrive stand out in this change?

We at Orlando Thrive stand for change and growth. In the past year, all of our therapists have taken extra-level training in everything from Gottman Therapy, Dialectical Behavior Training, EMDR, etc. to widen and deepen our scope of inclusivity to clientele. We offer nighttime appointments for any schedule, even weekends for clientele who need it. We have added new practitioners and new locations in the past year to increase our reach. We continue to find ways to benefit our clients, our practice, and ourselves as mental health counselors.

In addition, this May we are launching an incentive for those of you who have been hesitant about pursuing help. For the month of May, all new clients at our practice will be receiving a self-care bag to go alongside our therapy process. Our mindset is to reward and gratify those taking this amazing, but scary step to self-improvement.

If you or someone you know is considering taking a new step, be a part of our Mental Health Awareness Month incentive this May! Please give us a call or send us an email for more information. We look forward to hearing from you soon.

Rise above any circumstance, for GROWTH, EMPOWERMENT, and better QUALITY of life!
