Marie Howlett, MS, LMHC Dr. Phillips Office
Marie Howlett is a Licensed Mental Health Counselor Intern (LMHC) in the state of Florida. She works exclusively with clients in the Orlando area in private practice at Orlando Thrive Therapy, Coaching, and Counseling at the Dr. Phillips location.
Who Marie Works With + Marie's Approach
Marie Howlett is passionate about the transformational power of professional mental health counseling. She helps individuals seeking relief from anxiety, depression, relationship problems, low self-esteem, and trauma to feel seen, heard, and understood. Her approach to therapy is to nurture clients’ strengths and help them connect to their life’s purpose.
By focusing on one’s humanity instead of only their problems, Marie establishes an emotionally safe space for individuals and couples to heal. She collaborates especially well with Millenials and Gen Xers who are sandwiched between caring for elderly parents and parenting their own children in a rapidly changing culture. She listens without judgement to new college graduates, professionals, second-generation children of immigrants, and LGBTQIA+ folks in order to help them organize their thoughts and emotions. Clients leave sessions with insight about their past and hope for their future.
Marie adapts sessions to fit each person and uses various evidence-based techniques to enhance healing such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Client-centered Therapy, Clinical Hypnosis, Mindfulness, and Emotionally-Focused Individual Therapy. She received Eye Movement Desensitization Reprocessing (EMDR) basic training which is used to treat PTSD and trauma. Marie is also trained in the Gottman Method and Emotionally Focused Therapy for Couples. She provides alternatives to traditional talk therapy such as integrating psychodynamic play and expressive arts techniques when appropriate.
Clinical Background
Marie received her Master of Science degree in Counseling and Psychology from Troy State University. Marie also graduated with a Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of Central Florida. Marie has worked primarily in private practice settings helping clients achieve their personal and professional goals. She looks forward to continuing to provide a safe and welcoming space for new clients to learn the tools they need to thrive.
