Who Marie Works With + Marie's Approach

Marie Howlett, MS, RMHCI

Marie Howlett is passionate about the transformational power of professional mental health counseling. She walks alongside adolescents and adults seeking relief from anxiety, depression, relationship problems, low self-esteem, and trauma, and shares tools to help them cope. Her approach to therapy is to empower clients to identify and utilize their strengths in order to connect with their life’s purpose.

By seeing people as people, and not just their problems, Marie establishes an emotionally safe space for individuals and couples to do the hard work of growing. She endeavors to understand clients holistically and offers an array of techniques customized to one’s needs and preferences. She collaborates with folks of all ages, especially parents and step-parents, students and new graduates, first-generation children of immigrants, and members of the LGBTQIA+ community.

Marie adapts sessions to fit each person and uses various evidence-based techniques to enhance healing such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Client-centered Therapy, and Mindfulness. She received Eye Movement Desensitization Reprocessing (EMDR) basic training which is used to treat PTSD and trauma. Marie is also trained in the Gottman Method and Emotionally Focused Therapy for Couples. She provides alternatives to traditional talk therapy such as integrating psychodynamic play and expressive arts techniques when appropriate.

Note about insurance: Orlando Thrive Therapy, Coaching, and Counseling is a self-pay practice, so we do not work directly with insurance companies. We use a combination of psychotherapy, lifestyle coaching, mindfulness, and counseling which provides you with a holistic approach for the best outcome. Marie's rates are based on the services she offers and she will discuss with you the best course of treatment for your unique circumstance during your initial appointment.

What to Expect

When you schedule your first session, you will be sent a link to complete electronic paperwork. The first session will focus on getting to know one another and identifying your goals for therapy. This will help to determine your overall plan and how often you will need to meet for therapy. Marie will provide a confidential, open space where you will feel welcome. You will receive empathy, compassion, and support to allow for self-awareness to bring about the change you are seeking.

Marie's rates are based on a 50-minute therapy session for individuals and couples based on the service provided. She offers pre-paid membership options at a reduced rate and will gladly discuss this offer during your initial consultation. Payment is due at the time of your session.
