Who Joyce Works With & Joyce's Approach
Joyce specializes in working with individuals experiencing anxiety, depression, and trauma, as well as supporting couples and families in improving communication, resolving conflicts, and fostering stronger relationships. Her approach is rooted in evidence-based practices, specifically Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and Person-Centered Therapy. These modalities help men and women seeking therapy to explore their experiences with compassion while building the skills and insights needed for meaningful change. Joyce is also trained in sand tray therapy and incorporates this expressive therapeutic technique when working with adults, as well as middle and high school age children.
Joyce brings additional expertise to help anyone seeking mental health therapy through her trainings in Trauma-Focused Behavioral Therapy, Social and Behavioral Training, Suicide Prevention, Psychological First Aid, Secondary Trauma Stress, and Skills for Psychological First Aid. These specialized skills enable her to provide effective support for individuals navigating crises, trauma recovery, and emotional challenges. She is also Gottman Level 1 trained for couples and incorporates EFT (Emotional Focused Therapy) to provide an integrative approach when working with couples facing infidelity, poor communication, issues with trust, intimacy, or contemplating divorce. She also works with blended families, step-parents, and family members seeking support for internal family systems.
Joyce's additional training in using expressive therapies, such as sand tray, further provides a non-invasive technique that clients can use to dive deeper into their repressed or paralyzing emotions from grief, trauma, rejection, or any change for any age.
