Practice Breathing Exercises

Many people that practice deep breathing exercises daily notice that they feel more relaxed and at peace at the end of each day.  If you are looking to reset your mind after a long day, consider practicing deep breathing exercises to ground your mind and finish the day with a peaceful mentality.  By doing this each night, you train your mind to stop at the end of the day before crawling into bed for a good night’s rest.

Take a Warm Shower or Bath

A warm shower or bath can help the rest of the day melt away before you crawl into bed.  By taking a long, warm bath, you can rest your mind and remove all the stresses of a long or difficult day.  Also, you can remove some of the anxious thoughts that may be swirling around in your head to avoid tossing and turning once you get in bed.


To remove the stress of the day, consider taking out your journal and releasing some of the thoughts you have.  This can lift a weight from your shoulders so that you can feel light and refreshed before bedtime.  Releasing some of the tension or negative thoughts into your journal allow you to remove these stresses so that you can get quality rest. 

Prepare for the Next Day

Some people toss and turn at night because they are worried, concerned, or unprepared for the next day.  To alleviate this, spend some time each night getting ready for the next day.  Pack your lunch for work the next day, take a shower, lie out your clothes, and organize any details so that you can be prepared before the day even begins.

Remove Screens

Those who sleep next to their phones or watch TV before bed often complain that they take a longer time to fall asleep.  To get quality sleep at night, you should remove screens from your bedroom and keep your phone off your nightstand.  Consider getting an alarm that is not on your phone and avoid watching TV for the few minutes before bed.
