Calena Illan is a Licensed Mental Health Counselor and Qualified Supervisor in the state of Florida. She works exclusively in counseling at our Dr. Phillips location and also provides telehealth therapy in private practice for Orlando Thrive Therapy, Coaching, and Counseling.
Calena specializes in teaching you how to overcome anxiety, achieve personal and professional success, and develop healthier self-worth and better self-confidence, that will enrich your connections with yourself and others. She is specially trained in ACT (Acceptance and Commitment Therapy), CBT (Cognitive Behavioral Therapy), Trauma Informed care, Perinatal mood disorders, fertility issues, postpartum depression, and Postpartum anxiety. She also works with couples as a certified Gottman Level 3 relationship expert. She is also a Certified Yoga Instructor which often serves as a backdrop to her unique approach to helping her clients develop a better understanding of the mind-body connection for stress and anxiety relief. She believes that with greater self-awareness and the ability to learn how to accept and commit to change, her clients and couples can learn how to maintain healthy relationships, gain self-worth and confidence, stop co-dependency, and establish better self-care and healthy boundaries.
Calena uses empowerment strategies to help clients that struggle with poor coping skills, negative thought patterns, anxiety, unhealthy relationship patterns, and destructive behaviors. Through her experience in successfully teaching hundreds of couples and individuals how to overcome barriers, she has discovered that one-size-fits-all treatment does not work for lasting change. She provides a sincere, open-minded, safe environment for any individual or couple to process difficult emotions. Her unique, integrative, and holistic approach to therapy will provide you with the tools you need to thrive, rather than just survive.
Please contact Calena to find out more about her approach and to schedule an intake appointment and get started today.
Note about insurance: Orlando Thrive Therapy, Coaching, and Counseling therapists do not work for insurance companies. They work for you. Therefore, we are a self-pay practice. We use a combination of psychotherapy, lifestyle coaching, mindfulness, and counseling which provides you with a holistic approach for the best outcome. Calena’s rates are based on the services she offers and she will discuss with you the best course of treatment for your unique circumstance during your initial appointment.
When you schedule your first session, you will be sent a link to complete electronic paperwork. The first session will focus on getting to know one another and identifying your goals for mental health therapy. This will help to determine your overall plan and how often you will need to meet for counseling. Calena wants your experience to be unique, personal, and specifically tailored to meet your personal or relationship goals in as few sessions as possible. She will provide an environment that is designed for success and show you what it takes to thrive.
Calena’s rates for a 50-minute therapy session vary based on the service provided. She is a licensed clinician with a diverse professional skillset that will surpass that of many counselors. You can expect to receive the highest quality of care, with access to multiple therapeutic interventions that will help you reach your therapy goals quickly.
Calena received her Master of Art and her Bachelor degree from the University of Central Florida. Her clinical experience has began with non-profit agency work helping clients who struggle with addictions, poor boundaries, unhealthy coping skills, and toxic relationships. Through this type of agency work, she became more motivated to pursue additional certifications in her personal time that would expand her clinical skill set to the private practice setting. She became proficient in anxiety relief techniques, relationship counseling expertise, and self-empowerment modalities. Her work now includes married couples, same-sex couples, dating or cohabiting couples, and individuals who are struggling within life or their relationships. She looks forward to teaching clients the techniques she has mastered so they can get the most out of their lives and their connections with others.
