Quality World: Are you living your Quality World?

ORLANDO COUNSELING: SELF-HELP SERIES

As society continues to navigate this new world of confusion and adversity, having a resource like Orlando counseling is so beneficial to manage a healthy, happy quality world. This time of coronavirus, job loss, financial unrest and anxiety from the unknown is putting everyone’s quality world to the test. There are many external factors that are beyond your control and if you are finding yourself struggling with anxiety, fearful about tomorrow, or hopeless about your ability to change or overcome, then you need to reach out and talk to an Orlando counselor.

Your quality world is built on how your five basic human needs are met. These needs are Fun, Freedom, Love & Belonging, Power, and Survival. They are largely dependent on what behaviors you choose in order to fulfill them. The idea of a quality world is what you and everyone else strives to achieve in life. Picture a photo album and the photo album has pictures of the people that you hold dear and close to you, the values and belief systems you choose to believe in, and what is positively fulfilling your basic needs on a consistent basis. This quality world “album” is full of hope, happiness, satisfaction, and self-fulfillment when it is complete. When something is missing, there is a desire to seek ways to fill it.

ORLANDO COUNSELING

MEETING UNMET NEEDS

When a basic need goes unfulfilled the first instinct as a human, is to go into “immediate fix” mode. This is an internal drive to have the need met, sustain, or maintain what was there before. Imagine you’re walking through a desert and become parched of thirst.  When you finally reach a town and look for the first sign of water, you find a horse trough.  You know that drinking from this trough could mean ingesting disease and bacteria, but you are so thirty you do it anyway. After you come up for air, you survey the area and see there is a filtered water source right next to the horse trough. You see that you could have had fresh water to drink.

This analogy teaches you that it is an immediate reaction to seek fulfillment when a need is not being met, but immediate solutions can often have long-term consequences. In life, the same is true and it is always better to scan all choices before making immediate decisions. Attempting to immediately fill a need when it is at a low can further devastate your quality world with substance use, infidelity, and feeling guilt, shame, worthlessness, anxiety, or depression.

MEETING NEEDS POSITIVELY

The challenge is to take it one step at a time and learn the proper strategies to implement positive change.  In Orlando counseling, you learn to visualize and see what the best options are for you. This is an empowerment tool that allows you to make informed decisions after identifying repercussions. You learn that you have choices and influence positive or negative outcomes. When you start to do this, your basic needs begin to become met. This creates a quality world where you feel empowered, fulfilled, and motivated, all from making your own choices. As humans, you are all driven by the need to live in your quality world. Your quality world will differ from another’s and that is okay because you are unique. You are different. You are human.

Above everything else, be proud of yourself. This includes your actions, who you are, and the life you live. If you find yourself struggling, reach out to an Orlando counselor for help.
