HOW DO I DEAL WITH REALITY AFTER COVID?

HOW DO I DEAL WITH REALITY AFTER COVID?

How do I know what is real? How do I know what to believe? Am I believing fiction? What is my reality? These are some of the more common existentially based questions our anxiety counselors in Orlando at Orlando Thrive Therapy have received from clients. After 2020, coping and managing with a new reality has been a challenge and something that you may have not felt ready for. You may have started questioning what is real, what do you believe or who should you listen to. If so, we are here to tell you to take a deep breath and say something positive about yourself right now!

HOW DO I LEARN TO COPE AFTER COVID?

You are valid in thinking this way but now it is time to think about how to cope with changes and manage life again. The best way is to focus on what you want to believe in and why you believe in it. It may seem that we are living in a new reality but in the grand scheme of things, it is the still reality you knew back in 2019, just with more rules for now. Focus on the things that you need and want to do because they are still there - they are.

Think of it this way, if you put your mental energy into focusing on things you do not know or questioning everything then it will take away from your confidence and fill your internal dialogue with only questions and confusion - not a healthy mindset to have, is it? Anxiety counselors in Orlando emphasize the issue of control being at the center of the pandemic's effect on mental health. Focus on things you still have control over, the things you have gained back, and what you are looking forward to.

YOUR FEELINGS ARE VALID, YOU ARE SEEN

Other ways in which you can help yourself are by intentionally putting yourself first, try looking at basic evidence, limit the source of new information you take in a day to perhaps just one, and before you begin fully believing it try asking yourself what you do believe about it and why you are believing it. This is a start to knowing what is true and what is fiction and it takes practice to do this but I am confident you are able to do it! If you are still having some difficulties acclimating to your new reality and the way in which you have been affected, we suggest discussing your triggers with life transitions and anxiety counselor in Orlando for anxiety counseling at Orlando Thrive. Remember, your feelings are valid and we are here to help you.
