Who Zach Works With + Zach's Approach

Zach is a Registered Mental Health Counselor Intern who works with teens, women, men, couples, and anyone who may be experiencing anxiety, depression, trauma, low self-worth, guilt, shame, or feeling stuck or overwhelmed. Zach believes therapy should be both supportive and honest. He works to help clients build self-esteem, confidence, and a stronger sense of self-efficacy while also challenging patterns of thinking that may be keeping them stuck, and isn't afraid to confront clients when appropriate. His goal is to help clients better understand themselves, recognize unhelpful thought patterns, and develop healthier ways of approaching life’s challenges. He tailors his approach to each person rather than believing therapy should look the same for everyone.

Zach also enjoys working with people seeking support in their professional careers, either for elevation, or to navigate changes. Through career counseling and a collaborative approach, he helps clients explore their strengths, clarify what matters to them, and identify a path forward. He also works with couples using the Gottman Method approach to support married, cohabitating partners, dating, or engaged couples to improve communication, rebuild connection, and better understand one another. Additionally, his work with adolescents and young adults provides a safe, judgment free space, for both the teen and their family to feel heard and supported.

Zach draws from a variety of therapeutic approaches, including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Motivational Interviewing, Cognitive Processing Therapy (CPT), Accelerated Resolution Therapy (ART), Gottman Method for couples, creative expression, career counseling, and work focused on core beliefs. Many of Zach’s individuals and couples come to therapy feeling like they’re spinning their wheels: procrastinating, overthinking decisions, questioning themselves, feeling lost or disconnected to themselves or each other, and unsure of what direction to take next. Zach helps clients slow things down, better understand what’s getting in their way, and find practical steps toward creating a life that feels more meaningful, manageable, and more fulfilling.

Clinical Background

Zach is a native Floridian who earned his bachelor’s degree in Health Psychology with a minor in Statistics from Brigham Young University-Idaho. He later earned his master’s degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Stetson University. Zach aims to create a space where people can be honest about what they’re going through without feeling judged. As Marcus Aurelius wrote, “The happiness of your life depends upon the quality of your thoughts.” This idea reflects Zach’s belief that while we cannot always control what happens to us, we can work toward changing how we understand and respond to what happens.
