Thomas Cruz is a Licensed Mental Health Counselor (LMHC) in the state of Florida. He is also a Certified Addictions Professional. Thomas works exclusively with individual adults and couples in the Orlando area at Orlando Thrive Therapy, Coaching, and Counseling.
Thomas Cruz has been an Orlando counselor for several years helping women, men, and couples through mental health therapy. Thomas has grown immeasurably as a practitioner within psychology because of the personal drive he feels to continue learning more. This is what sets him apart from other therapists. Thomas is not satisfied with simply using his educational background as a basis for his practice. He believes that in order to help clients heal, he must be able to offer them access to a variety of therapy techniques. In his quest for achieving this goal, he has pursued additional certifications and training in psychology practices. This has given him the ability to specialize in a multitude of integrative psychology philosophies in order to help his clients reach their therapy goals more effectively. With each of his clients, he works collaboratively to get to the root issues, rather than just focusing on the surface problem, to help his clients find resolution within themselves or within the relationship. He believes that this is the only true path to achieving long-lasting results and long-term therapy goals. With this approach to individual counseling and couple’s therapy, Thomas develops a solution-focused action plan with each of his clients that becomes the basis for their successful outcomes in therapy. Thomas believes passionately in eliminating the stigma of mental health therapy. He empowers his clients to feel confident, reassured, and supported through their counseling experience. He welcomes each of the individuals and couples he works with in therapy with a warm, compassionate, and thoughtful approach which allows his clients to feel accepted and comfortable.
Thomas has developed an invaluable skill set for helping his clients achieve their goals quickly in his therapy sessions by incorporating a combination of integrative, multi-modal psychotherapies that the Orlando Thrive Therapy, Coaching and Counseling practice believes in. These techniques include but are not limited to Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) for anxiety relief and uncovering negative thought patterns, Family Systems work dealing with co-dependency, boundaries, or dysfunctional relationships, Gottman therapy for specialized work within relationship counseling and marriage therapy, and Psychodynamic therapy techniques, which include working with individuals with PTSD, mood stabilization issues, work/life balance stress, career and personal development, and much more. Thomas is also a skilled practitioner in areas of dual diagnosis dealing with addictions for substance use, or unhealthy behaviors within a toxic relationship. Thomas provides a unique space for his client, individually tailored to meet the specific goals for each situation which allows for the most successful outcome.

Thomas Cruz has an undergraduate degree from the University of Miami and a Master of Science in Psychology and Counseling from Albizu University. Most recently, he obtained a second degree from Penn State University and hold a Master of Psychology in Leadership. The largest portion of his psychology background has been in working within mental health agencies and psychiatric hospital settings. This has allowed him the opportunities for exposure to assessing and diagnosing mental health disorders with precision and accuracy. This work also inspired him to branch out into private practice where he has been able to expand his skillset to include relationship counseling and marriage therapy to improve connection or overcome trauma within a relationship, anxiety relief for individuals, adult individual counseling for executives and professionals struggling with work/life balance issues, finding purpose or personal fulfillment, career goal setting, and helping individuals identify or redefine to achieve optimal personal growth and development.
